What service does Stanford Proofreading provide?

Stanford Proofreading gives your manuscript the attention it deserves. We edit your manuscript to be clear, concise, purged of spelling errors and repetitions. We re-arrange sentences, replace inappropriate words and format your manuscript to adhere to authors guidelines.

Does Stanford Proofreading have the practical knowledge and skills needed to improve my manuscript?

We have experts in various academic fields. We have the practical knowledge and skills needed to improve your manuscript in clear and concise English that is error-free and ready for submission to reputable journals.

What type of documents do we accept?

We accept Microsoft Word documents and Pdf files, manuscripts must be submitted in English language. We also accept manuscripts submitted in other languages and document formats.

How do I submit my manuscript?

What happens after I submit my manuscript?

Once we have received your manuscript, the turnaround time required to edit your manuscript will be mailed to the corresponding author within two hours. A payment link will also be sent, with which authors are expected to make their payments. A managing editor and a language editor will ensure that mistakes are corrected and your document is as direct as possible. Finally, the Publication Ready Manuscript will be mailed back to the corresponding author within 3 business days.

Am I required to pay a fee for my manuscript sent to Stanford Proofreading?

Stanford Proofreading charges an editing fee. Our charges are reasonable. Prices depend on the pages of the text. Pricing

Do I have to make payment before processing my article?

Authors are required to pay the editing fee after manuscript has been accepted for editing. Payment will be immediately confirmed once received.

What is the turnaround time?

Manuscripts are returned within 3 days. Authors can also negotiate turnaround time if they have an imminent deadline.

What style will be used by Your Editing-Experts to edit my manuscript?

Stanford Proofreading formats a manuscript based on the style of the Journal the author intends to publish.

Will Stanford Proofreading use my manuscript without my consent?

No! Manuscripts will not be used without the authors’ consent. Your manuscript is safe with us and will never be provided to third parties without the authors’ consent. Stanford Proofreading takes privacy issues very seriously.

Will I be given an English Proofreading Certificate?

Yes, when manuscripts are returned, an English proofreading certificate will be sent to interested authors, along side the proofread manuscript.

Will Stanford Proofreading issue me an invoice receipt after making payment?

Yes, an invoice receipt of amount charged for proofreading will be sent to you along side your proofread manuscript.

Do you accept PDF file?

PDF files will be edited by making annotations using Sticky Notes in Adobe. You would then need to manually insert the suggested changes in your publishing software. Wherever possible, Microsoft Word documents are preferred, as the software enables us to utilize the Track Changes feature to highlight our editing. Alternatively, copy-and-pasting the text from your PDF file into Word can be effective. If you have any questions regarding PDF editing, please contact us.

What are the editors’ experience/qualification?

All our 100+ editing professionals are native English speakers and alumni of leading U.S. and U.K. universities.
As minimum criteria, all of our editors meet or exceed the following key standards:
Advanced qualifications (first degrees, master’s degrees, and PhDs) from a U.S. or U.K. university
At least five years’ experience in academic proofreading and editing or copy-editing
Significant track records in academic publishing or the commercial sector
Membership in leading industry bodies, such as the Society for Editors & Proofreaders (SfEP) and the Council of Science Editors

Is your website Secure?

Yes; our website is secured with DigiCert SSL Extended Validation and 256-bit encryption.
Files uploaded through our website are stored on a password-protected server. Only the editing manager and the assigned editor will have access to your file, and it will not be shared externally with anyone under any circumstances.
Our service is 100% confidential.

Will my file be kept secure and confidential?

Any files submitted to Stanford Proofreading will be strictly kept confidential.
Only the editing manager and the assigned editor will access your files. We will not share them externally under any circumstances.
All client files are deleted from our system 21 days after we have returned the edited version. If you wish for us to delete them sooner, simply email us and we will be happy to oblige.
We are happy to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) if required.
